winces at own html.

Before 'bread and butter' became a turn of phrase, it was actually bread and butter. Stews were quite common.

We had fish as well, and oysters. I heard that French cuisine was becoming a bit of an influence but
[he was too poor for that.] I'd yet to try it. Beans and lentils as well.

I have not tried pizza. I think that was vodka the other night though. I don't remember well. That's probably a good sign, eh?

i do it all the time /sobs

stews and oysters for breakfast? yep. tragic. now you have the chance to eat a breakfast burrito. or even better? pancakes. your life will never be the same.

that means you did the vodka right. as for pizza. you need to change that ASAP.

ASAP means as soon as possible, by the way.

I appreciate you humoring my lack of contemporary knowledge. As well as the incredible changes my life is to undergo.

Is pizza also appropriate fare for a social engagement?

Are you asking me out on a pizza date?

[A brief pause to double-check that 'date' means what he thinks it does.]

Yes.

[He doesn't even ask if she needs a chaperone. He's so modern now.]

I am delighted. When will you be available? I know that women of this age are often occupied with pursuits that I am not familiar with.

And I don't mean the theft.

I find myself in similar straits.

How customary is it for vodka and pizza to be served in the same establishment?

oh, i think we can make it happen. it sounds like a bar is the place we need to go. i just need to scope out the pizza landscape because you deserve good pizza for when you lose your pizza virginity

['Pizza virginity.' This is how lettered young women talk now.

Quite interesting, really.]

I didn't know there was such variance in quality. Pottage is usually just one whole thing.

Bars though, those I know. I could have sworn I went to a self-styled British spot the other week, but 'vodka' hadn't sounded like it at all.

oh yeah, big differences. gas station pizza does not equal gourmet does not equal frozen pizza. all are good but in different ways.

yeah, we won't go to a british place, their pizza will not be good. and their vodka will be fine.
